On April 5th, twenty SUNY Korea students and faculty took a break from studying to attend the Seoul Motor Show at the KINTEX convention center in Ilsan.  The Business Management Department and the Center for Global Entrepreneurship covered the cost of tickets, the private bus transportation, and snacks for the trip.

At the Motor Show, students and faculty were exposed to over a hundred car models and concept cars from about twenty car manufacturers.  Hyundai, Kia, Genesis, Mercedes, Jaguar, Porsche, and BMW were among the name brands.  The latest technologies, including Hyundai's solar car roofs and Kia's autonomous driving pod concept, were on display.

In addition to the new cars, dozens of automobile suppliers and vehicle manufacturers (like motorcycles and recreation vehicles) also had booths, showcasing technical products like brakes or top-of-the-line services like interior tuning.

Chihmao Hsieh, Research Professor of Entrepreneurship and Founding Director of the Center for Global Entrepreneurship, remarked: "It's a tough time of the school year with the midterm frenzy to attract students to come out for an event like this.  But the Seoul Motor Show, the fourth largest auto show in Asia, is only delivered once every two years.  Our students should attend world class events that showcase the cutting-edge designs and innovations in the automotive industry, one at which Korea is a top leading super-power."
