Message from the BM Chair

THE STATE UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK, KOREA

Jeehong Kim
Chair, Department of
Business Management
Jeehong Kim
The Department of Business Management is committed to providing world-class business education and scholarly excellence as a flagship program of SUNY Korea.

Our curriculum is designed to train students in pursuit of higher productivity, creativity, and growth.

In today’s fast-paced and dynamic business environment, we can no longer approach business education without considering the contemporary development in interdisciplinary fields. In essence, we must design business models in combination with the changing landscapes in closely related fields, such as computer science, and explore future opportunities for paradigm-shifting innovation. I look forward to closer collaboration with the broader university and other departments to maximize our program’s potential synergy with students and faculty, as well as in academia and in industry.

One of the most promising features of the SUNY Korea’s Business Management program is the one-year study abroad program at the Stony Brook campus. This one-year visiting program motivates our students to move beyond their comfort boundaries and to develop a more global leadership perspective as future innovators and entrepreneurs. Our program goals specifically reflect the depth and breadth of student knowledge as well as the pragmatic skill sets that establish a sustainable foundation for life-long learning and professional development: critical thinking skills, leadership skills, communication skills, ethical reasoning skills, and a global network.

We will provide students extensive internship opportunities and career management services, which would help our students establish themselves as global business leaders with more confidence. We will also help students to find the opportunity to solve real business problems for global corporate giants and start-ups alike. In sum, I believe that our commitment to excellence is enhanced where collaborative thinking among students and faculty solves business problems, and where students inspire one another to dream big and make a difference in business and in society.

I remain so very grateful for the support, resiliency and generous spirit of the SUNY Korea community through this global challenge. Together, I am confident in stating that we will not just weather the current storm, but emerge from it stronger and better.
